A Degree or Masters Engineering Degree and affiliation to an Engineering Institution are required.
Job Description
Reporting to the System or Project Design Manager as appropriate within the Team WHLS Project & Systems Team, you will perform Systems Engineering activity for design projects, including delivering system designs during the early phases of a project and integrating subsystems as the design progresses during later phases, ensuring requirements and interfaces are met.
Responsibilities
Develop requirements sets using best practice methods, ensuring requirements are single, measurable statements of need. Plan for and manage the acceptance of designs and products against requirements.
Identify and define interfaces, this includes the internal interfaces between subsystems and between these systems and external systems (e.g. boat structure, power supplies).
Develop system designs during the early phases of the project, ensuring that the system is considered as a whole against the customer requirements. Perform system level design activity, including installation/removal, alignment, maintenance, manufacturing, timing analysis etc.
Monitor and improve the equipment designs, especially with respect to cross-system design issues.
Develop and maintain subsystem specifications, ensuring they meet, and are traceable back to requirements.
Manage the change control process for changes to subsystem specifications.
Verify the design of equipment within the subsystems against the requirements in the subsystem specifications, and the design of the top-level system against the customer requirements, including monitoring and recording verification activity (analyses etc.) for the purpose of acceptance.
Manage system risks (identify, record, monitor, mitigate), and ensure that areas of high technical risk are addressed as a priority.
Contribute to the definition of project policies, standards, and specifications, and ensure their correct implementation during the equipment design.
Take responsibility for both answering queries from the customer and raising new queries for the customer, ensuring that customer communication takes into account both technical and customer relationship considerations.
